The Coorg Coffee Trail

Three slow days among the estates of Kodagu

Duration
3 days · 2N
Best season
Oct – Mar
Adventure
Level 2 / 5
Great for
couples, friends

There is a particular hour in Coorg — just after six, before the mist lifts — when the whole plantation holds its breath. The estate paths are wet underfoot. Somewhere below the ridgeline, a temple bell. Your coffee, picked from these very slopes, is already brewing.

This is not a sightseeing trip. It is three days of walking slowly, eating what the estate kitchen cooks, learning why the planter's grandmother still turns the beans by hand — and remembering what unhurried feels like.

Why you'll love this

  • Private estate walk with a Kodava planter family
  • Sunrise at Mandalpatti — mist, ridge and silence
  • Coffee cupping session, bean to brew
  • Plantation-stay rooms with valley verandas

The journey, day by day

  1. 1

    Arrive into the mist

Reach the estate by noon. A long Kodava lunch, then an unhurried walk through the coffee and pepper vines with the planter. Evening by the fire with estate-roasted brews.

  2. 2

    The ridge at dawn

A 4:45 am start for Mandalpatti's sunrise — jeep track, ridge walk, breakfast hamper at the top. Afternoon cupping session: roast, grind, taste. Evening free on your veranda.

  3. 3

    Bean to brew, and home

Morning at the pulping house, a final slow breakfast, and a stop at Abbey Falls on the drive out. Depart with a kilo of the estate's roast.
