Kabini is the southern edge of Nagarahole National Park, where the forest meets a dammed river that draws wildlife to its banks all dry season. Leopards are seen weekly, tigers often enough, and the summer elephant congregations are unlike anything else in Asia.
Lodges here invented the Indian safari-stay rhythm: dawn drive, long lunch, boat at dusk, stories after dinner.
When to go
October to May. March–May is peak sighting season as water concentrates the wildlife — and the elephants gather.
Getting there
5–6 hours from Bengaluru, 2 from Mysuru. The last stretch runs through farmland that turns to forest without warning.
